The Statue and Architecture
  • The Big Buddha: The central focus is the giant, serene statue of Gautama Buddha sitting in a meditating posture (cross-legged). The statue is constructed from gleaming white Burmese jade marble tiles that catch the daylight.
  • The Grand Staircase: Leading up to the statue is a wide concrete staircase flanked by Naga balustrades—ornate, golden mythical serpent structures that act as handrails.
  • The Terrace: At the base of the stairs, there is a large open plaza and viewing deck where visitors can walk around. A small golden shrine sits to the left of the stairs.
Environment and Atmosphere
  • The Landscape: The temple complex is surrounded by lush, dense green tropical forests. In the far background, the blue waters of the Andaman Sea and the distant coastline of Phuket are visible under a horizon of rolling hills.
  • People and Activity: Numerous tourists and visitors are seen walking up and down the stairs and exploring the terrace. A few Buddhist monks in traditional orange robes are also visible on the steps.
  • Weather and Flags: The scene is set on a bright day under a light blue sky filled with wispy white clouds. Thai national flags and yellow Buddhist flags are planted along the railings, fluttering in the breeze.
 
 
 
 
 
 
    • Head straight up Nakkerd Hill. 
    • Crucial Tip: Pay your driver an extra 200–300 THB to wait for you at the top. It is notoriously difficult to get a new ride-hailing car to come up the mountain to collect passengers.
  •               Phuket Big Buddha
    • Explore the massive white marble statue and take in the 360-degree coastal viewpoints.
